Valle Del Rio Water System Improvements
On February 29, 2016, we closed on the purchase of the Valle Del Rio Water System just east of the Rio Grande on Hwy. 28. Funding for the purchase an upgrade of this water system was from the NM Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund. The Phase I improvements consisted of replacement of pumps and a fire hydrant, rehabilitation of the pressure tank and storage tank and the addition of a backup generator, SCADA system, and a new storage tank.
The Phase II project to replace water pipelines and service lines is nearly complete. Morrow Enterprises is the contractor. This project hasl been much more of an inconvenience to residents than Phase I, which was contained to the well & tank site. The up-side is that the roads were repaved after new water lines were installed. Currently, we are on hold until El Paso Electric installs 3-phase power, and then we will be replacing the booster pumping skid and generator. The new boosters will allow us to better flush lines in the system. We urge residents to exercise caution around construction sites, crews and equipment. Project engineering firm is Souder, Miller & Associates.
