NOTICE – COVID-19 RESPONSE

In accordance with NM Dept. of Public Health Emergency Order dated March 24, 2020 and subsequent updates, Lower Rio Grande Public Water Works Authority offices are following State guidance for social distancing, mask wearing, and cleaning surfaces.  We urge our customers to utilize our online bill pay, automated telephone bill pay, or the payment drop boxes located at each office.  We also urge you to follow NM Department of Health “Stay At Home” guidance to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Coronavirus and Drinking Water and Wastewater

There is no higher priority for EPA than protecting the health and safety of Americans. EPA is providing this important information about COVID-19 as it relates to drinking water and wastewater to provide clarity to the public. The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies. Based on current evidence, the risk to water supplies is low. Americans can continue to use and drink water from their tap as usual. EPA also encourages the public to help keep household plumbing and our nation’s water infrastructure operating properly by only flushing toilet paper. Disinfecting wipes and other items should be disposed of in the trash, not the toilet.


Bill Pay Assistance

The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) provides one-time payments up to $1500 to low-income households that are eligible for assistance. The Mesquite office is now equipped to accept credit card payments (Visa, Mastercard & Discover). Because we are a political subdivision of the State of NM, we are required to charge a convenience fee to recover our costs for providing this service. The fee is $2.00 per transaction. If usage warrants, this service may be extended to our other offices.

How to Provide Feedback

If you have feedback with respect to the customer service provided by our staff, please follow this procedure:

For a complaint, Customer should write down the location, date and time the incident occurred. All phone calls and customer interactions at pay windows are recorded, so this information will assist in investigating the complaint. Customer may remain anonymous if desired.
